The wine should be transferred into a clean container before filtering begins in order to prevent the dregs from being sucked up into the filter. Immerse the filtering sheets in water before use to saturate. Allow them to absorb water for at least 5 minutes before installing tightly into the filter.
FILTER STRAINER IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: To avoid clogging or damage to the pump which can be caused by solids in the wine, it is recommended to install a filter strainer on the inlet side before the wine reaches the pump. The strainer may be installed in the included 1/2" hose with two PS47 plastic hose barbs.

When you are ready to purchase filter pads, we stock the following 3 packs (25 packs also available):
About dripping from the pads during operation - THIS IS NORMAL. All plate filters drip a bit unless they have a housing. The pads are squeezed tightly between the plates, however, there is some natural wicking of wine past the edges of the plates, even under pressure. A cookie sheet under the filter is generally enough to catch all the drips. If that's not enough, something else is wrong and should be investigated.
